I exclusively sculpt stone. I develop my work around the face and around the portrait beginning during my studies in ‘the Beaux-Arts’ of Rouen, at the same time as my career as a stone mason. Since 2007 I am a marble mason for the Musée du Louvre.
if I fix faces in the stone, it is because the work of the stone is slow, and I like the stone as we love a friend. As for the slowness, it is a complete tool. It takes time for the face that I model, to be analysed by my brain, understood by my heart, and then passed by my arms and my hands. Every blow of burin is the result of a will to go towards his face, and the product of concentration which obliges me to retreat deep within myself.
This double movement is essential.
To marry the antagonisms is a manner of speaking of Love in its most universal and timeless sense.
